Reimbursement of Insurance Companies
Please note that health insurance refunds may vary from state to state and insurance company to insurance company. We recommend to get in direct contact with your insurance company. Your health care supply store will support you with accruing formalities such as quotes and inquiries. Be aware: You will need a prescription from your doctor for both breast prosthesis/shaper and mastectomy bra.
Primary Care
While still in hospital, you will receive a lightweight First Form (made of foam, especially developed for the first six weeks after surgery). In most cases health insurance companies cover the cost by 100%. Additionally, they grant subsidies for a post-surgical bra or a compression bandage.
Basic Equipment
One of each, silicone breast prosthesis (after breast mastectomy) or silicone shaper (after breast preserving surgery). Subsidy for two mastectomy bras. The monetary value of the subsidy varies from company to company. Please ask your insurance company.
Annual Reimbursement
A prescription subsidy for two mastectomy bras.
Biennial Reimbursement
One of each, silicone breast form or silicone shaper. Depending on the insurance company a subsidy for a swim form is possible. Be aware: if you experience significant weight loss or gain and a new size is required, in many cases a new prescription from your doctor is possible.
