Blended Fabrics
Each combination of one or more fibers creating a new fabric with unique properties is described as blended fabrics. These include as an example a combination of a natural fiber with one or multiple synthetic or artificial fibers.
Advantage: Combines properties of all raw materials used, e.g. the combination of cotton and polyester fiber will offer the comfort of its natural fiber component, paired with the easy to clean properties of synthetic fiber
Cotton
Natural fiber – the soft and fluffy staple fiber harvested in boils from the cotton plant serves as the raw material for cotton fabric.
Advantages: ssoft, fine fiber with high moisture regain and antistatic properties, breathable
Disadvantages: less warm than others, poor elasticity, dries slow
Lycra
is the protected name for high quality elastane fibers of the brand DuPont. It adds long lasting elasticity to the textile for a longevity in shape and fit.
Microfibre
A modern high-tech fiber on the basis of polyester or polyamide. In a special process these superfine fibers are turned into yarn.
Advantage: Highly absorbent, fast drying, light and soft material. Exceptionally strong.
Nylon
An exceptionally fine synthetic fiber based on polyamide that was invented in the 50s. Nylon has easy to clean properties, a good durability, and dries fast. These characteristics make Nylon an ideal material for sport clothes as well as elegant clothing.
Polyamid
is part of the synthetic fiber family. Most common brand names are Perlon, Nylon and Helanca.
An extremely lightweight material, resistant to abrasion or tearing. Its water and wrinkle repelling properties make it easy to care for.
Commonly used for sport and outdoor clothing, tights or bathing suits (in combination with Elastane).
Spanex/Elastane
Elastic, synthetic fiber used to maintain form and shape whilst improving comfort.
Advantage: high stretchability, resistant to deformation, low maintenance material
Disadvantage: Fabrics containing spandex/elastane are highly sensitive to chlorine based bleachers, as well as high temperatures
Increase in spandex ratio in a fabric composition leads to increased conformity with body shape and permanent elasticity (stretch). Spandex and is a durable and easy to clean material.
Stretch Cotton
High quality fiber combining the breathability of cotton fabric with the elasticity of elastane. Resulting in a hybrid that adjusts to individual body shapes whilst retaining the intended cut.
Cotton-Stretch
This high-quality fibre mixture connects the high wearing comfort of natural fibre cotton with the advantages of the elastic fibre spandex.
Result: perfect adaptability to the body and long-term perfect fit.
Mischgewebe
Polyamid
Polyamide is a synthetic fibre. The best known names brand names are Perlon, Nylon and Helanca.
The fibre is light as a feather and still extremely tear and rub resistant. Due to its low crease tendency, polyamide is especially easy to care. Water nearly drips off nearly completely.
Polyamide is used for sportswear and weather proof clothing, ladies’ tights or swimwear (in combination with spandex)
Lycra
Lycra is the registered trade mark for the high-quality spandex fibre produced by company DuPont. It provides clothing with permanent elasticity and the ideal and perfect fit.
